I don’t think there could have been a more perfect song for me this month.
That’s because, after a lot of waiting and planning, and jumping up and down and anticipating, and being too excited to sleep (not just Elayna either), we finally got to go on Elayna’s Make a Wish trip to Disneyworld! It was more magical than I ever could have imagined, thanks to Make a Wish (who really worked to make her feel like a special girl during her trip).

Even as much as she is in love with all things princess, and Lion King, and Lego Movie, I was surprised to find that her absolute favorite character was Mickey Mouse.
She will be the first to tell you that her favorite part of the trip was meeting Mickey THREE times. Besides, as she told me, “Mickey and I must be, like, best friends! I don’t think any other kid in the world has talked to him twice and danced with him on stage, too!“
Be still my heart.

From the moment she arrived at Give Kids the World and got her stuffed Mickey Mouse, she was in love, and she continued to fall deeper in love each day. She is still sleeping with Mickey on her bed.

A HUGE thank you to Make a Wish Iowa. This trip was a dream come true for her, and us, and it was a fantastic and happy ending to a really rough year. She deserved this special time and we will never forget it.
