Today it was 95 degrees in Portland, and we find that to be pretty warm! Luckily, Jake’s friend Phil helped us out tonight by giving Jake a ride to practice so that Elayna and I would have a car to get out in (we only have one vehicle now, which Jake takes for work). It really made a difference for us, since there is no a/c at home, and E and I don’t like being trapped in here all the time as it is.
With our freedom, we went to the fountains and played in the coooool water. Elayna and Joaquin had fun, but they were sometimes unsure about all of the noise at the place. As you can imagine, with this heat, the fountains are pretty popular in the evenings. Lots of little (big) kids running around screaming.
At one point, Elayna walked directly into the fountain and stood there, letting the gigantic drops of water splosh on her head, soaking her. She seemed surprised about it when she came out, but after careful consideration, she did it a few more times! We spent most of our time there just getting close to the fountains and letting the cool spray keep our temperatures down. It was a good night. 🙂
