We spent the first day of 2011 visiting the Columbia River Gorge.
First, we drove up to Crown Point (a viewpoint off of the gorge), but it was sooooo windy up there that the van was swaying quite a bit and none of us ventured out of the car at all. We got a good laugh about how wimpy we all were, but we could see pretty well from the lot and didn’t want to chance getting blow off the side of the mountain. Ha!
Next we stopped at Multnomah Falls. It is such a beautiful waterfall, but it was cooold, so we enjoyed looking at it and checking out the gift shop and then headed back to the comforts of our heated vehicle.
I got a couple of shots of a smaller waterfall that I could get close to on the side of the road, but am still not sure how to take pictures of the faster moving water, so my shots of the falls disappointed me. Maybe this summer I will go take more when its warmer and I am willing to mess around with my settings! I really hadn’t even looked anything up about taking pictures of landscapes, so I don’t know what I expected. 😉
